Governor of Central Bank of Kenya visits IDRBT

On October 17, 2014, Prof. Njuguna Ndung'u, Governor, Central Bank of Kenya visited IDRBT. He was accompanied by Prof. Lydia Ndirangu, Assistant Director, Kenya School of Monetary Studies (KSMS) Research Centre.

Dr A.S. Ramasastri, Director Designate, IDRBT, welcomed the Governor and introduced the various activities of IDRBT. Shri Patrick Kishore, Chief Operating Officer, Strategic Business Unit, IDRBT briefed about the progress on the collaboration between IDRBT and KSMS in the areas of:

  • Setting up of a Mobile Banking Security Lab (MBSL) at KSMS by IDRBT
  • Development of E-Banking Master Plan for Kenya jointly by IDRBT, KSMS and University of Portsmouth, UK.

Expressing keen interest in taking forward the partnership with IDRBT, Prof. Njuguna Ndung'u stressed that "this collaboration is very important for improving the financial landscape of Kenya. This collaboration will enable sharing of ideas and learning from each other, thus creating a good knowledge base for development in Kenya as well as other African countries."

The Governor also visited the Institute's Mobile Banking Security Lab and got a first-hand view of the research work that is being carried out in the lab.
