Call for Tutorials

With a view to enrich the participants of ICISS 2019, particularly early-career researchers and students, we plan to conduct tutorials by renowned scientists and practitioners. We solicit proposals for full-day (6 hrs) or half-day (4 hrs) tutorials on specific topics relevant to the security community.

Tutorials must cover advanced topics that are of current interest to the security community. Tutorials may be lectures, interactive sessions, hands-on training, or any combination of the above. Good tutorials educate the community members on emerging methods, concepts, and tools to expand the research capabilities of the community.

Important Dates (All times are AoE)

  • Proposal submission: June 30, 2019
  • Notification of acceptance: July 15, 2019

Submission Guidelines

Tutorial proposals must be submitted by email to iciss2019-tutorials@idrbt.ac.in as a single PDF file of no more than 6 pages in length.

Proposals must include:
  • Title of the proposed tutorial.
  • Motivation for the tutorial.
  • An outline of the tutorial content, including its tentative schedule.
  • The type of tutorial. It is highly recommended that full-day tutorials include a hands-on component and not be limited to only lectures.
  • References to previous iterations of the tutorial (if applicable) including their date, venue, schedule and number of participants, and the motivation for the new proposal.
  • Venue requirements for the tutorial room (please note that our capabilities in fulfilling unusual requests are limited). Projection and A/V support will be provided.
  • Requirements for the attendees (e.g., must bring own laptop or other hardware, familiarity with certain technologies or topics, speed of Internet connection etc.).
  • Any restrictions (e.g., number of participants).
  • A short biography of the proposed presenter(s), along with contact information.
Important notes
  • It is recommended, but not required, that there be up to three speakers for a full-day tutorial and up to two speakers for a half-day tutorial.
  • Tutorials will likely be held in parallel with workshops and other tutorials, and are scheduled for Tuesday December 17, 2019.
  • Upon acceptance of a tutorial proposal, either the tutorial chairs or the tutorial speakers can request a cancellation of the tutorial if there is clear evidence indicating low attendance of the tutorial by the early registration deadline.
  • Compensation to tutorial speakers will not be provided.
